Burned Tower

It burned a hundred and fifty years ago in a storm and nobody rebuilt it, because nobody can agree on what ought to be rebuilt. The first floor gives way underfoot; below, in the basement, there are three silhouettes the townspeople always describe the same way and that are never there when someone comes to check. It smells of wet wood and lightning, which is not a smell that should last a century and a half.
